The glass cylinder, located in the second floor
waiting area, is open to the chapel below. Light from above is directed
into the cylinder, creating the primary light source for the chapel.
The walls consist of bent laminated glass with rice paper between
the PVB interlayers, providing obscurity. The surface is washed
with colors from the interior rings of oval-shaped dichroic glass,
reminiscent of a watercolor painting. The view from the chapel up
into the cylinder is kaleidoscopic. |
