On the south glass wall of the Galt House Conservatory a wall sculpture greets visitors as they approach from Fourth Street and acts as both a visual celebration of arrival at the Galt House, as well as the origin/termination of Fourth Street. It also celebrates light by the way the work casts and reflects a wide range of spectral colors when illuminated.

The design of the sculpture is a continuation of the theme established for the Main Street pedway, which was also designed by Kenneth von Roenn, Jr. who is the President and Director of Design of Architectural Glass Art and co-founder of Glassworks. von Roenn, who has a Masters of Architecture from Yale University, has designed glasswork around the world including the world’s largest glass sculpture, which is the crown of the Wachovia Bank skyscraper in Charlotte, NC. He has also designed significant projects in Louisville for Jewish Hospital Medical Center East, Churchill Downs, Kentucky Arts and Crafts, Norton Hospital, St. Albert’s Catholic Church, Providian Plaza and dozens of other projects.
