The work is an expression of the themes of order and chaos. The form of the piece is a Fibonnacci spiral, which represents a natural order, which the dichroic glass grid represents a geometric order. The random diagonal beveled glass elements represent chaos by their placement and by the way they visually distort the dichroic glass grid.
The work was composed as a response to the left over space created by the curving ramp. It is intended to be perceived as actually determining the shape of the ramp, even though it was designed afterward. In this way, the work makes an awkward space seem appropriate, thereby integrating the art with the architecture.
